Accessibility Tools

We are committed to making all of our learning and assessment materials as accessible as possible, breaking down barriers to learning and fair assessment for all of our students. Around one in five people in the UK have a disability, including specific learning difficulties like dyslexia, and/or visual and hearing impairments.

Some of our online learning content, including online exams with reasonable adjustments applied, utilise the ReciteMe accessibility toolbar to allow those with learning disabilities or difficulties to better access and engage with our online content in a way that better meets their needs.

The accessibility toolbar is provided on this page as a working example, so that those who are using it for online exams, or who may need it for online learning content, can practice.

There are a number of key features and functions in the toolbar, including:

  • Have the text on the page read aloud at different speeds and with different voices
  • Translate text into more than 100 different languages
  • Change font sizes and colours
  • Customise background colours
  • Magnifying glass
  • Ruler and reading pane

If you have an online exam scheduled that has been reasonably adjusted, you should definitely practice using the toolbar so that when it's time to take your exam, you do not waste crucial exam time learning how to use it.
